October 6 is National Coaches Day, a moment to celebrate the people who make youth sports more than just a game. Coaches are the heartbeat of every team, shaping confidence, character, and lessons that stick with kids for life. From setting the tone at practice to cheering them through tough moments, they create experiences that reach far beyond the field.
This summer, during the NFL FLAG Championships Presented by Toyota, we proudly announced Lacey Abell and Nathan Munson as the 2025 NFL FLAG Coaches of the Year presented by Visa—two leaders who represent the very best of what coaching can be.
As head coach of the Lace Up Juniors in Colorado, Lacey Abell has quickly become a driving force in the growth of girls’ flag football. A former quarterback on the U.S. Women’s National Team, she’s guided her players to state championships and tournament titles, making her one of the most respected voices in the sport.
Beyond the scoreboard, her true legacy is in the way she empowers young women to see themselves as athletes, leaders, and champions in every sense. Every practice, every game, and every huddle is a chance to build confidence and belief that extends well beyond the field.
In Bakersfield, California, Nathan Munson has dedicated nearly a decade to coaching with All Out and creating opportunities for kids to thrive in the game he loves. His teams have captured multiple national and regional titles, including spots at NFL FLAG Nationals in the 10U and 14U divisions.
Munson balances coaching with full-time careers at American Airlines and the City of Bakersfield, and still finds time to play flag football himself. His passion for the game is unmistakable, and it’s what fuels his ability to create lasting experiences for his athletes. Wins and losses may come and go, but his players know they’re part of something special.
On this National Coaches Day, we celebrate every NFL FLAG coach across the country who shows up, gives their time, and makes kids feel like they belong on the field.
Thank you for the lessons. Thank you for the memories. And thank you for making flag football such a meaningful part of kids’ lives.
