Day 1 Recap: NFL FLAG Championships Presented by Toyota
The 2026 NFL FLAG Championships Presented By Toyota are officially underway!
More than 325 teams from across the country and around the world arrived at Grand Park on Thursday to begin four days of competition, bringing together the best youth flag football athletes on one stage. Opening day featured the first pool play games, the High School Girls Showcase, and thousands of athletes, coaches, families and fans ready to chase a championship.
The Chase Begins
Competition officially kicked off Thursday morning as the 14U Boys and High School Girls divisions took the field for their opening games of the tournament.
Throughout the day, teams battled through the first round of pool play, looking to establish momentum and position themselves for the weekend ahead. Additional divisions also opened competition during the afternoon, filling Grand Park with action across every field.

High School Girls Showcase
One of the marquee moments of opening day was the annual High School Girls Showcase, where some of the nation's top high school flag football athletes competed in front of college coaches and fans.
The showcase highlighted the continued growth of girls flag football while giving athletes an opportunity to display their skills on one of the sport's biggest stages.
College Fair
Alongside the competition, athletes had the opportunity to connect with college programs during the NFL FLAG Championships College Fair.
Representatives from colleges and universities across the country met with student-athletes to discuss recruiting opportunities, academic programs, and the continued growth of women's flag football at the collegiate level.
Around the Championships
Competition wasn't the only excitement happening throughout Grand Park. Fans explored partner activations, interactive experiences and family-friendly activities while cheering on teams.

Friday marks the start of international competition as teams from around the world officially begin tournament play. ESPN feature games continue throughout the day, while athletes, coaches, and programs will also be recognized during special awards presentations.
