Safety and Injury Prevention

Safety and Injury Prevention

As a league operator for NFL FLAG, your biggest priority is the safety and well-being of your players. Every season should be equipped with robust safety protocols and injury prevention measures—you can follow these guidelines when creating yours.

Field safety and maintenance

Before each game day, conduct thorough checks for uneven terrain, debris, or any obstacles that could pose risks to players. Ensure fields are properly marked and maintained according to league standards to minimize the risk of injuries during gameplay.

Player safety gear

We require that every NFL FLAG player wear a mouthguard and properly fitted flag belts. Mouthguards help protect against dental injuries and concussions, and you can even sell them during game-day for families who inevitably forget theirs at home.

Injury response and first aid

Develop and communicate an emergency action plan (EAP) to coaches, officials, and volunteers. This plan should outline procedures for responding to injuries or medical emergencies promptly and effectively. Ensure that each field location is equipped with fully stocked first aid kits containing supplies for treating common injuries like cuts, bruises, and minor sprains.

Coach and official training

Make sure all coaches and officials have knowledge on injury prevention, concussion awareness, and basic first aid. They play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe playing environment and should be well-prepared to handle any safety-related issues that may arise during games. Implement a strict concussion protocol that includes educating coaches, officials, and parents on recognizing concussion symptoms.
